Alka Gupta has been appointed as the new Chair of the Digital Frontiers Board of Directors. Alka is a Tech entrepreneur, Director, Venture Investor, and Fortune 500 Executive with extensive experience in Fintech, eCommerce, Payments, Marketplaces, and Digital Identity.
Alka steps in as Chair following David Porteous’s stepping down after 7 years as Chairman, David will still however remain on the board as a non-executive Director. When asked about joining Digital Frontiers, Alka shares, “It is my honour to take on the Board Chair role from David and want to thank him for all that he has done. His are big shoes to fill and we will continue to work together as DFI moves forward. I am excited about DFI’s continued growth under Gavin’s leadership. The organisation has a wonderful opportunity given its track record with fintech already, the surge in the EdTech sector, renewed global interest in impact, and a history of execution with a strong team. I look forward to working together to bring the evolving vision to life in this next chapter.”
“We are grateful for David’s 7-year tenure as our Chair. David steered the board and company to deliver on our sustainability objectives of a 1:1 ratio of earned income to donor funds, two years of operating reserves, diverse programming and business lines, two years of record earnings, and steering safely through the pandemic. The time is now right for new board leadership to continue our re-invention cycle to move from early break-out scale to break-out scale. Alka Gupta’s growth expertise and board experience are the right fit for our next growth phase”- Gavin Krugel, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Digital Frontiers.
“What a privilege and a joy it has been to be a part of the Digital Frontiers story over the past 7 years—from an idea and a dream to becoming a well-accepted player in the world of building capacity today. As Digital Frontiers prepares for its next big step forward, I am confident that Alka will bring the fresh perspective and vision which will help guide Gavin and the team to reach the next level of achievement” – David Porteous, Co-Founder, and non-executive Director of Digital Frontiers.
Our recently announced new CFO, Kholeka Zama, has been appointed in departing CFO, Iesrafeel Jakoet, Executive Director position on the Board. We would like to thank Iesrafeel for his 3 years of outstanding service as our outgoing CFO and Executive Director.
We continue to strive toward mainstreaming gender equality in our organisation through our network and celebrate that the board now comprises 71% women and is women-led.
