Digital Frontiers’ Tariro Nyimo Takes on Regional Facilitator Role for FinEquity Africa

Advancing the breadth and depth of women’s financial inclusion by leveraging shared objectives between FinEquity and Digital Frontiers to develop inclusive financial ecosystems across Africa.

Cape Town, South Africa, July 2024 – Digital Frontiers proudly announces its partnership with FinEquity Africa Community of Practice (CoP) with Tariro Nyimo, Head of Stakeholder Engagement appointed as the new FinEquity Africa Regional Facilitator. In this capacity, Digital Frontiers will collaborate with FinEquity, a global Community of Practice convened by CGAP, to enhance women’s economic empowerment through financial inclusion.

FinEquity Africa is a regional branch of FinEquity, dedicated to promoting equitable access to and use of a wide range of financial services across Africa by accelerating knowledge generation, fostering best practices, and encouraging sector collaboration in the region. Created at the end of 2022, it reaches over 1,200 people today, including financial services providers, policymakers, NGO staff, technical assistance providers, funders and researchers. The community focuses on how to enhance gender diversity and leadership across financial institutions, adopt a gender-intelligent approach to product design and delivery, and advance the use of gender data and analysis in Africa.

This new partnership with FinEquity Africa firmly aligns with Digital Frontiers’ mandate to build professional capabilities in Africa with continuous professional development, knowledge sharing, broad advocacy, local and global convening, and connecting peers in professional contexts.

Digital Frontiers is excited to partner with other esteemed FinEquity Africa knowledge partners, including the Financial Sector Deepening Network and the Graça Machel Trust. Through this partnership, Digital Frontiers aims to curate insightful content from the community that spark innovation and expand the community of organisations and individuals dedicated to advancing women’s financial empowerment in Africa.

“Our aim is to build on the experience in Africa and other regions to advance gender equity in financial inclusion. We look forward to working with Digital Frontiers to contribute to that,” said Antonique Koning, Senior Financial Sector Specialist, CGAP.

“I am thrilled to take on the role of Regional Facilitator for FinEquity Africa. Digital Frontiers firmly believes in the sustainability of developing local-country capabilities and including local public and private sector professionals and organisations in the interventions we help implement. Our collaboration with key partners and our successful track record in delivering high-impact projects position us uniquely to advance FinEquity Africa’s mission. We are eager to leverage our expertise in knowledge curation, community engagement, and capacity building to address the critical barriers to women’s financial inclusion and contribute to a more equitable financial landscape in Africa.” Tariro Nyimo, Head Stakeholder Engagement, Digital Frontiers.
