Cape Town, September 2024 – Digital Frontiers and Genesis Analytics, both global impact firms founded and headquartered in Africa, are excited to announce their formal partnership to establish Digital Genesis. Digital Genesis is a joint offering that includes government-led Digital Public Infrastructure accelerators, specialised digital economy capacity-building, technical assistance, consulting, and local implementation support to accelerate Digital Public Infrastructure and drive innovative Digital Transformation. Together, they will serve a targeted customer base of governments, development sector donors, private sector clients, and implementing partners.
The world is awakening to AI’s extraordinary innovation and sobering human capital impacts. Yet, in Africa, we are at a critical juncture where we urgently need to establish a foundational digital infrastructure and stimulate inclusive participation in local digital economies. At the frontier of Africa’s participation in an undeniably digital world, we need to act fast and at scale to deepen governments’ strategic and technical digital capabilities while building local cross-sector human capital and broad digital literacy for truly inclusive digital economies.
Introducing Digital Genesis
Genesis Analytics and Digital Frontiers have joined forces to accelerate Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and Digital Transformation in the Young World, a region that includes countries with young working populations in Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, and parts of Southeast Asia. The Young World has the potential to be an economic epicentre, generating significant economic and social development and lifting millions out of poverty.
The joint initiative pools access to a 300-strong team across 25 countries, including hubs in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Nairobi, Abidjan, Lagos, Goa, and London. The initiative also pools DPI implementation experience and substantial existing DPI capacity-building offerings.
Digital Genesis brings capabilities that accelerate the design, testing, implementation, and scaling of DPI technologies across the Young World. Our approach is locally led, and implementation driven. It leverages our experience in government coordination, digital economy strategy, human-centred design, digital policy and regulation, scaled capacity building, and managing large development sector projects. We have combined these digital capabilities with expertise in digital finance, climate, healthcare, education, food security, gender equality, and social protection sectors.
We work with governments, technology providers, and the international development sector to catalyse the building of whole-of-society DPI, including digital ID, payments, and data exchange.
A Shared Vision for Digital Transformation
Both organisations are deeply committed to advancing DPI and digital transformation, mirroring the surge in DPI focus in the international development sector. They are uniquely positioned to facilitate locally led solutions to the challenges faced by emerging markets as they transition to a digital future.
By pooling resources, Genesis Analytics and Digital Frontiers avoid the risks of duplicative investments and accelerate market entry. With two powerful networks, a broad client base, and complementary perspectives Genesis Analytics and Digital Frontiers aims to accelerate the digital transformation of economies.
Joint Offering
Digital Genesis has developed a unified strategy offering that includes government-led DPI accelerators, specialised digital economy capacity-building, technical assistance, consulting, and local implementation support catering to governments, development sector donors, private sector clients, and implementing partners.
