Ethel’s dedication manifested notably through her facilitation of microloan funding, strategically empowering Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and reinforcing MoneyMart Finance’s steadfast commitment to grassroots economic development.

Our Digital Financial Inclusion Supervision (DFIS) graduate’s research shaped the E-Money Issue Regulation, a pivotal component of Trinidad and Tobago’s payment regulation framework.

Through Digital Frontiers Institute’s specialised programme elements, this student expanded her knowledge on consumer protection and regulatory impact assessment, strengthening her expertise in legislative development. This student applied their knowledge in assessing the effectiveness of legislation and regulations when they become law.

Our Instant and Inclusive Payments Systems (IIPS) graduate and Project Manager at JoPACC, Hussam Hammad​, assisted in launching CliQ in 2020. With meticulous dedication, he sculpted CliQ from its technical infancy, infusing it with the promise of instant financial transactions across all banks and mobile wallets.

Eden Dema, a graduate of the Gender Equality Changemakers (GEC) and Certified Digital Finance Practitioner (CDFP) programmes, became a beacon of change within the realm of financial inclusion and gender diversity.

Eden meticulously assessed the landscape of women’s leadership and gender diversity within AFI member institutions. Her dedication resulted in: a Special Report on Gender Diversity within AFI member Institutions and a Toolkit for Increasing Gender Diversity and Women’s Leadership in Financial Regulatory Institutions

Our Certified Digital Finance Practitioner (CDFP) graduate and CEO of Paytek, Joao Gaspar’s, impact  resonates profoundly within Mozambique’s fintech landscape.

Paytek has been participating in the Central Bank Sandbox where Joao contributed by testing products and showing how they can implement a new service offering, deal with consumer protection, anti-money laundering (AML), and quality assurance and control (QAC). While consulting for FSD, he commented on draft laws that the Central Bank issued for basic bank accounts, including the payment service provider law. He also developed a basic framework for internal privacy for mobile money operators in Mozambique.​

Our Digital Financial Inclusion Supervision (DFIS) graduate actively participated in developing a financial consumer protection law encompassing digital financial services and FinTechs.

This financial consumer protection law provides two directives: Fair Treatment of Financial Consumers and internal redress mechanisms. This student recognised the DFIS programme contributed towards the use of a gender lens to draft a new policy within the Consumer Protection Act and to expand supervision from traditional financial services to incorporate FinTech.​

Our Instant and Inclusive Payments Systems (IIPS) graduate Tsedale G/Egziabhe’s vision for Ethiopia’s digital transformation materialised in the form of the Instant Payment System (IPS).

Spearheading the project, she navigated complexities, merging technology with societal needs. With P2P transactions initiated via unique aliases, financial inclusion burgeoned. No longer restricted by bank accounts or cards, the unbanked are gaining access to the economic mainstream.

Nebiat Tekle, a graduate of the Gender Equality Changemakers (GEC) programme, embarked on a mission within his organisation, where over 75% of the workforce were women to assess gender gaps and craft solutions.

His capstone project was focused on how to increase the number of women in leadership positions. He has started to do weekly knowledge-sharing sessions and mentorship championing gender equality, breaking barriers in a male-dominated banking sector.
