At the heart of Ghana’s journey toward a more inclusive and prosperous future is a bold initiative that’s changing lives and creating opportunities for young women in STEM across the country. The FIRST+II (Financial Institution Resilience and Strengthening) Inclusive Finance Scholarship Programme is a collaboration between the Digital Frontiers Institute, CapitalPlus Exchange (CapPlus), and the Mastercard Foundation—all united by a shared mission: to equip young Ghanaian women with the skills and confidence to lead in fintech, financial services, agriculture, and inclusive finance.

This partnership forms part of the Mastercard Foundation’s broader FIRST+II programme with CapPlus, which is designed to create dignified jobs for Ghanaian youth by 2030. Through tailor-made digital finance courses, the FIRST+ II Inclusive Finance Scholarship Programme is empowering a generation of work-ready young women, professionals from non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) and the GHAMFIN network, as well as individuals with disabilities from the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations (GFD), to innovate, drive systemic change, and contribute to Ghana’s economic growth.
