As governments and institutions accelerate digital transformation, Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) is emerging as a critical foundation for inclusive digital economies worldwide. Organisations across the public and private sectors are increasingly seeking professionals who understand how to design, fund, govern, and scale DPI initiatives effectively.
Our Introduction to Digital Public Infrastructure (iDPI) course equips professionals in both the public and private sectors with the practical knowledge, strategic insight, shared language, and tools needed to engage in the design, funding and oversight of DPI initiatives.
The course leverages the expertise of leaders in the DPI field. It was created by David Porteous, a renowned consultant with the World Bank on digital development issues. Participants engage with experts from the Centre for Digital Public Infrastructure (CDPI) in live class call sessions, ensuring access to professionals leading the field in DPI.
Participants will explore key DPI concepts, global case studies, and emerging implementation approaches.
A standout feature of the course is the DPI Use-Case Challenge, which moves beyond theory to focus on practical application. Participants are encouraged to design innovative, real-world DPI solutions, where they are required to identify potential partners or adopters and demonstrate a pathway to implementation. Students are able to build and pitch their use case project, either individually or in teams.
The best use-case projects will receive expert mentorship and guidance from CDPI, including support in exploring potential funding opportunities. Submissions demonstrating strong implementation potential may also be considered for exclusive international engagement opportunities, including sponsored participation in global summits and immersion visits alongside governments, funders, and implementers shaping the future of DPI worldwide.
For organisations looking for a more tailored solution to strengthen team capability, Digital Frontiers also offers the Frontiers Intensive Workshop: Introduction to Digital Public Infrastructure (iDPI), available both virtually and in person. These immersive workshops are tailored to organisational priorities and provide hands-on, expert-led learning designed to help teams translate DPI concepts into practical, actionable solutions in real time.
The course is specifically designed for professionals responsible for designing, funding, managing, regulating or overseeing DPI initiatives. It does not require any coding or technical IT background, making DPI more accessible to a broader audience.
