Colleen Green is a senior technical advisor specialising in program design, business development and technical assistance for internationally focused organisations, consulting firms and non-profits engaged in global economic development. With more than 20 years of experience, her technical expertise spans financial inclusion, financial services/financial sector development, blended finance, climate finance and regenerative agriculture, micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) development, gender lens investing and livelihoods. She has worked with governments, financial institutions/DFIs, community groups and the private sector in 26 countries, predominantly in Africa and Eastern Europe. Her work has included leading or contributing to studies, analyses and evaluations of the investment ecosystem, bank and nonbank financial institutions, informal savings, microfinance and SME finance programs, and service delivery to vulnerable populations for USAID, FCDO, World Bank, IFC, Financial Sector Deepening programmes, and the Gates Foundation. She has designed numerous SME, trade and investment, and financial sector programmes for USAID.
The former Vice President for Economic Growth (EG) in DAI’s US Government Business Unit, Colleen, oversaw the design and technical delivery of DAI’s economic growth portfolio. This included managing a team of 30 technical specialists to support 35+ USAID programs, and leading the strategy, execution and win of more than 2.2 billion USD in inclusive growth programmes. Over her career, she has served in a variety of roles, including Team Leader/Project Director, Technical Specialist, Programme Design, BD Strategist and Project Manager. In addition to serving as a senior technical adviser, Colleen currently serves as an Adjunct Professor for Columbia University’s School for International and Public Affairs, co-teaching a course on Accelerating Small and Growing Businesses in Emerging Markets. She is also a co-facilitator of values aligned investing for women with Invest for Better and Board Chair for Songea’s Kids, an organisation that supports vulnerable children in Tanzania.
